Milk Bath Mini

Before I had the studio in White Bluff, I used to photograph families, maternity clients and newborns in my sunroom at my old house in Nashville. I’ll tell you, it was traumatic every time I had someone over. First, I’d had to clean for hours before, then, I had to shun anyone that was home into the back part of the house, and worst of all, the animals were literally shaking the door trying to get in the whole time! It was stressful to say the least but one of the things I actually do miss about shooting at my old home studio was that I had access to a bathtub!

You’d never be able to tell by looking but my old bathroom was the size of a coffin, so fitting a massive softbox in there and having to hover over my Maternity clients on the edge of the tub was quite a sight to be seen! I also would buy several poster boards and tape them to the walls to create a clean smooth look that also made it easier to edit after the fact, it was all very Jerry Rigged.

As difficult as it was, doing milk bath maternity photos was well worth all the effort! Though I now have a blow up pool to do milk bath or water photos, it doesn’t come with the heavy trauma and funny story that these gorgeous images did!
