E Newborn Session

I have had a few people who I started my newborn photography journey with contact me this year expecting their second child and that’s seriously the best compliment! Being a family photographer and newborn photographer has been so rewarding and the fact that there are those who started with me, when I wasn’t so good, and have continued to put their trust in me has been amazing. It’s been wonderful having them grown with me… but this one took me by COMPLETE surprise! Though Mama L and I are friends on FB I have not seen one post from here for at least a year so I completely missed this pregnancy and birth! (Even though she’s posted about it, thanks FB algorithm)
I was lucky enough that she contacted me pretty soon after though and just a few days later she brought the Handsome Baby E to me along with his Big Sister C! I was completely taken back by how big C had gotten, how well spoken and polite she was, and the fact that she'll be 4 this year (which is actually much better than I thought because I could have sworn she was 5 and I was wondering how so much time had passed)! I think I was just in denial at how much time had passed because it makes me think of how old I actually am! I can’t tell you how wonderful it was that she was VERY big on saying thank you/yes ma’am, which is such a huge relief because it seems like we’re all sadly falling away form that! All of you who move to the south need to adapt to our manners…
Sadly Papa R couldn't make it to this session but Mama L came looking like a super model with a full nights sleep. I remember she was the same after giving birth to C, she came in full makeup, hair done, and in her Sunday best, which I can't even manage with zero kids...
Enough of my rambling, these might be some of my favorite sibling photos ever, I can't tell you how many times I said 'Oh my God' or 'Awwwwwww' during this session. Mama L told me when they got to my home studio that he had a safari themed nursery and had brought him an adorable elephant outfit to be photographed in by sadly it was slightly too big… but that gave me the chance to bring out a newborn prop I haven’t used in years!!! Last time I used the Elephant hat/doll was probably almost 4 years ago now but it has been lying in wait for this exact moment and it was so worth it!!!!

Baby L Newborn

This little lady came a good few weeks early but I don’t think any of us were prepared for how advance and amazing she was going to be!!! Baby L was born just days after her Mama, Brother and I did her maternity session, they keep telling me it was the day after but that just doesn’t sound right, my concept of time isn’t that bad (says the girl who takes two months to publish a blog). Mama A got her out in what seemed like minutes, sideways at that, and when she came out she cried once, and went back to sleep on her Moms chest. NICU, who was only there because she wasn’t full term, told us they needed to hear her cry more to make sure she was okay but she was already rooting in her sleep. Not much seemed to change as we did our newborn session as Baby L slept literally the whole time! I don’t remember her waking or crying once, and had a full head of hair, but if you look at her Mama and Brother (or Daddy who wasn’t present) she hit the genetic lottery!

Mama A and Papa J were high school sweet hearts and are the couple that you always hoped you’d end up being. These two have been together almost 10 years now (if not more!!!), are happily married, have a dog (most important thing), their own home, and two beautiful children… kind of makes you hate your life a little bit but they’re also a HUGE inspiration for what is possible! Big Brother L is also the most handsome guy and it’s dangerous because he knows it! He was so well behaved despite having such a big change happening so recently in his life and was such a pro at holding Baby L!

Mama A is also a friend from High School, one of the few I still associate with, and no matter how much time has passed we haven’t spoken or haven’t seen one another we’re always able to pick back up like no time has passed at all! I can’t wait to watch this perfect family grow together and I will forever envy their sweetness and beautiful children from afar!

Baby O Newborn Session

First newborn of the new year has me encouraging women to get pregnant. After not having a newborn shoot for about 3 weeks I felt like I might start loosing my touch, however Baby O was a dream from the moment he arrived to the moment he left. The home studio was a bit chilly do to the continuous very cold weather outside so we kept the space heater on him the whole time and he loved it! While Mama, Papa, & I were all burning up O slept like a rock and allowed me to change his fur, hat, and poses multiple times in a short span. This little dude even smiled for me in his very first photo and then again for the third! O didn't fight me once with his fingers or hand placement and even grabbed a hold of his foot all by himself! I could literally shoot newborns everyday if they were all as easy going as O.

His Mama & Papa chose a baseball theme which was great because we literally have a collection of baseball cards and autographed baseballs but I spent 3 days trying to find the glove we had to no avail. (Thankfully the next day one of my awesome friends found one for me and brought it over!) O rocked every color and every set and you couldn't even tell that Mama K had just had a baby, I was so jealous! I had actually shot Mama K when she was a senior in High School and she hasn't changed a bit! She's still just as sweet and beautiful as ever and she made a great choice in companionship with Papa N, who was a very hands on dad. He helped just as much as mom during our shoot and even laughed at all my jokes, which is always a plus for me!

I'm still having a hard time not posting more photos to O's blog and might come back and add a few more, his handsome face is already making its way into my portfolio and updated packet!

Baby C Newborn Session

I always try and convince parents to allow me to take their newborn outside because the payoff is always soooo worth it but with Nashville weather we're always chancing it! Especially these last few weeks, we've gone from 30 degrees to 65 degrees the next day. (I fuss about weather a lot) Mama S & I ended up planning their session in about a week and I think Mama S caught on that overtime we talked about weather on the day of our session I just dodged the question. I'm a firm believer that if you talk about it, it brings it to light and I didn't have a plan B! We met at a separate venue and they followed me to their location, in the mean time it starts raining, which means it will get colder and I was starting to panic a bit! Thank God once we actually got there (which was only about a 5 minute difference) it had stopped sprinkling and despite being in a big open field where the wind was blowing, it felt much warmer then we were expecting it to be!

I was also expecting to encounter two shy older sisters who would probably run away from me & their new sister the whole time but oh my gosh I actually forgot for a second that we were doing a newborn shoot and just had a blast working with these ladies! Any time their sister was eating they were running circles around me and loving all over one another! Little Sister N was definitely Big Sister E's shadow, where ever she went N was right behind her! I loved their overdramatic faces and motions and at such a young age they are already so maternal to their new baby!

Baby C was just as good as her older sisters, if every newborn and siblings could be like these three I would do a newborn shoot every day! (added bonus if Moms & Dads were as cool and cute as S & E were!) Even though C was over the 14 day marker (I think) and it being a bit chilly outside she slept the whole time, despite receiving lots and lots of kisses, being moved around a bunch, and getting stuck in a bucket. There are so many more photos I'd love to share from this session but I've got to keep some a surprise for this family! I can't thank this family enough for enduring the chilly unpredictable day, and I can't thank them enough for being every photographers dream family!!!

G Family Gender Reveal

I always feel super special when someone does a gender reveal with me because normally I am Just one of three people who knows what they're having and I LOVE THE POWERRRR. But seriously, gender reveals are the best, especially when the mother is super creative and plans out the most awesome session you could ask for! It was so wonderful getting to meet the beautiful Mama B after talking for so long! It was like seeing someone I had known forever and though her husband couldn't make it to the session he was there in spirit! Mr. G was such a good sport and was all about sharing  all of his sweets with me and everyone there! He's going to be an awesome big brother to his little sister!

J Gender Reveal

This pretty Mama just COULDN'T keep the fact that she was pregnant a secret, she did however manage to keep it private just what she was having and I was lucky enough to be the lady to help her share that info!!! After two handsome boys this Lady is FINALLY getting a girl!!!! We couldn't settle on how we'd exactly be revealing that info so we ended up doing about 3 different things, even though we had more planned!

Baby DW III Newborn Session

The Saga of the DW family continues with their most recent installment Baby M, who is also my God Son!!! Just going into his birth knowing that made the moment so much more special when I was able to witness his birth and be one of the first few people to hold him! I'm hoping these guys will make another dozen babies because gosh dang they are awfully cute! Big Brother M & Big Sister R wanted so badly to hold M and to help with him however they could it was so cute! Mama & Papa have said that Big Sister R has repeatedly taken M out of his rocker and brought him to one of the, crying, sleeping, whatever! They both want so badly to hold their new baby it makes me hopeful that since I'm waiting so long to have kids if I have them close together they'll be this loving!!!

I so wish I could share some of photos from M's birth. We had waited and waited for what seemed like weeks for M to make his big debut, I had made sure to keep my schedule relatively open so I could leave at a moments notice but of course as soon as I started a newborn session (which typically last 4 hours) I got a call from Mama T that she was in labor... SOMEHOW, I still managed to do the newborn session and drive the hour and a half up to Kentucky to see this little guy come into the world! I even got to cut the cord which was one of the most special moments I've ever gotten to share with a family, or just in general!!! M was also kind enough to be born around 3pm instead of 3am like his big sister!

Even though he looks like he was awake in a few of the photos I posted he slept like a rock. I don't think I can express enough how hard he slept no matter how much I loved him or changed him or wrapped him he just slept and gave me some of the best faces! I can only imagine what he was dreaming about, it was probably me... or the booby.

Baby N Newborn Session

I always talk about how newborns are one of the most challenging sessions I ever have but the most rewarding... well... this little dude was easy peezy lemon squeezie! At almost a month old Baby N definitely had me a little nervous for his session. After about the 10 day period most babies don't want to cooperate nearly as much as we would like and are less likely to sleep or do certain poses... HOWEVER, Baby N slept the majority of his session and preferred being photographed outdoors, which is my favorite place for babies! He loved basking in the sunlight and made me want to exclusively shoot outdoors from now on. His wonderful mama gave me creative control of his session and thankfully she was just as big a fan of bonnets with ears on them as I am! I was finally able to use some props I have never gotten to use before and I couldn't have picked a more handsome guy to break them in! He looked good in almost every color and I made sure to keep him and his mama the whole 4 hours I generally schedule for my newborn sessions!

Mama A and I got along from the get go because we both have such awful senses of humor and we both have the same taste in style. Even though we had only exchanged a few texts I knew I'd love her company and she did not disappoint! When we were discussing what she was going to wear for her session I 'politely pushed' the white gown I had in my inventory that I had yet to use and she thankfully obliged! She rocked her outfit and it matched perfectly with Baby N's knit outfit from Boutique De Marzian!

I don't think I've ever had family photos of as smoothly as I did with this session. Every newborn session I try and lay out a plan to make the session go as smooth as possible however it all depends on how the babies are when they arrive and generally never goes the way I had intended! For this session we were able to save Mama/son photos till the very end and it's of course when Baby N slept the hardest! Every move came so naturally to Mama A and N just went with whatever she did,I've never had to maneuver a baby as little as I did for this portion of the session, everything just looked amazing. Despite just having a baby too Mama A looked so amazingly beautiful! I actually had her model for me for a few minutes while N slept in his car seat and nearly forgot we were doing a newborn session!!! I could have spent a whole hour just taking photos of her by herself.

I'm about 3/4 done with this gallery and I'm so madly in love with the outdoor photos I def put the studio photos off till the end. I don't think I've ever had such a hard time choosing photos and I feel like I need to redo all my packets now and update it with the photos from this session! I can't wait to show this awesome family their full gallery and I can't wait for more beautiful mama's and babies like this to come my way soon!

Baby S Newborn Session

Almost 3 years ago, at the start of my newborn career, an awesome couple (& even cooler friends) welcomed their first child into the world and you best believe I jumped at the opportunity to shoot their baby! After hours of planning, because back then it didn't take me weeks to actually plan because I had no idea what I was getting myself into, I welcomed Mitchell & Brittany into my home studio and walked myself right into a whirlwind! I spent some time dying cheesecloth (which has ZERO stretch to it guys, don't believe all those blogs!!!), buying fabrics, the works, excited to use literally every newborn prop I had at the time for her session. I've got to say I psyched myself up for so long, after seeing all these sleepy adorable baby photos online and thinking that that would be the cutest thing ever to add to my portfolio, I had no idea what I was getting myself into. Newborns have definitely been one of the most complicated, yet most rewarding, models I have ever worked with. I never imaged how much newborns pee and poop, especially when naked, nor did I think that it would be so hard to get them to sleep for more then 5 minutes! Isn't that what newborns do? Eat, poop, and sleep??? The photos you see online are a dirty lie and make it look so easy!

Now Big sister H was definitely a challenging newborn. Despite being fed and kept up before our session she was literally awake for the whole thing and loved the fur I laid her on so much that she peed on it more then once! She never cried but was the biggest wiggle bug I have ever seen! It was also the first time Papa M had been pooed on and it was an amazingly funny experience. Even though I wasn't nearly as knowledgeable about posing newborns/didn't have all the fancy cute props I have now, I still love the family photos I did from H's newborn session. Mama B & Papa M look so incredibly proud of their beautiful little girl that it doesn't matter her fingers weren't flat, her wrap wasn't smooth, or her arms were literally spelling out YMCA the whole time, the photos are still so sentimental even I can look past all the fine details to see the true beauty of the family.

Fast forward almost 3 years and M & B are welcoming their second beautiful little girl into the world and it wasn't an option for the now 4  to once again visit me! Baby S was just as beautiful as I imagined her and Mama B has a hotter postpartum body than I have on a good day so I was incredibly jealous. She also had more hair then I thought a newborn could have and her mama picked out a beautiful color pallet so I was incredibly excited to piece everything together! Following in her adorable sisters footsteps Baby S was awake for a good chunk of her session and was more interested in why I was moving her around so much then sleeping. Despite being such a wiggle butt we did manage to get her to sleep for a good 15 straight minutes which was all I needed!

Baby S Newborn Session - SM - Chelsea Meadows Photography 11.jpg

Big Sister H amazed me at how well she handled her little sister! I've never seen a sibling so young walk around (or try to at least!) with 'their' baby with such ease as H did! She sat down and proper her upright, cradled her, the works! This little mama is going to be a huge help to her parents! S wasn't too terribly pleased we kept moving her around while she tried to sleep but still managed to look like a gerber model for her family photos!

Baby R Cake Smash

So I think it's safe to say that it's time for the DW family to have another baby because, not only are both their children so incredibly perfect but Baby R just graduated the baby plan!!! I had the privilege to see this little lady come into the world, to hold her when she was only a few hours old, & now to see her crawling around with so much personality... I don't know how you parents do it! I get emotional just thinking about it...

Baby R & her awesome family came to visit me for like the 10th time the other week & we had such fun splashing in the water & causing mayhem! I've never had such a relaxed session nor have I seen children so well behaved when there were so many things to get into! We almost had a little accident where R almost fell in the water but Papa K was thankfully there to catch her! I think Mama T & I both screamed...

Can you guess this little ladies Cake Smash theme?

Can you tell M & R are related? They look identical!!! M was soooo good while R ate her cake! He waited for his turn to steal some of the delicious blue icing from her & even let him mama have some! I'll tell you, doing cake smashes on a diet is one of the hardest things I've done... never have I ever had to resist the urge to clean out the icing container while making this cake as I did that night!

Baby P Newborn Session

One of the many wonderful things about living in Nashville is that everywhere you go you can find gorgeous scenery (& it's home to some of the most amazing people!!!). One of the downfalls to living in the area is that the summers can be unbearable!!! However, the weather was just slightly less unbearable than normal the day I got to work with the adorable Baby P & her family! After my long line of boys I've finally had some beautiful girls to work with & I must say the sessions have gotten a bit out of hand! I've probably stripped my prop stash & have attempted to use every little item I own on the ladies I've had the pleasures of working with recently!

Baby P was born on 7.12 at 7:12 & the day I got to work with her she weighed 7lbs 12oz! I had the best little assistants & Mom & Dad had the two best helpers I think anyone could ever ask for! Sister G & R were such good little mommies & were so well behaved our session. They were so polite, kind, & such good listeners, which is all I could ever hope my children to be. Everything came so naturally to the soon to be husband & wife (& they all photographed so darn well) I couldn't stop taking photos!

Little Ms. P Slept through the first half of her session, the miserable outside part, but barely slept once indoors. There were too many exciting things going on! Despite all my little baby tricks this little lady definitely did not like being naked or sleeping on all my soft furs, even if she was tightly wrapped up, however I still managed to get some pretty awesome shots in between feedings!

I'm so thrilled this little lady is now enrolled in the my Baby Plan because now I'll be able to see her & her family multiple times over the next year, not including their Aunt C's wedding in just a few months!

Baby B Newborn Session

I don't know if I'm getting better or these babies are just getting sweeter! I had a postponement on a newborn last week who was still a little jaundiced so I got to play with this handsome boy instead! Mama E was referred to me by another amazing photographer/videographer Husband & wife team that I know & I've been overly giddy waiting for the arrival of her little guy! We had spoken a few months prior & it seemed like the day would never come!  Baby B must have known I was incredibly impatient because he came a few days early & was at the home studio not too long after! Baby was so well behaved & slept through his whole session, however, He did have an exhausting night keeping his mother & father up all night though (lucky me!).  I always gloat about how babies have the best eye lashes (etc) but Baby B skipped over having baby acne completely & had the most perfect complexion I've ever seen!

Baby B was known as Harry Houdini to his parents & I quickly learned why. I'd turn around for a split second & he had somehow managed to free his arms & legs from his wrap, which resulted in me having to wrap him in layers. I was incredibly thankful that when we moved to his 'nakie' photos he was completely content being posed in so many strange ways, as long as his hands were by his face! This little guy looked so handsome in whatever color I put him in it was hard narrowingdown what to use.

I always love meeting new families & after speaking to E for so long it was so nice to put a face to her & her husband. They were so patient with me as I kept them much longer than necessary (I tried to get them to leave without B a few times & just told them to come back in a few years) & came up one of the most unique themes I've gotten to incorporate into a newborn session in a long time. I can't wait for them to see their gallery tomorrow nor can I wait to see all the updates I'll hopefully be getting on B as he grows! A huge thank you to the G family for allowing me to work with your adorable growing family & cuddling your precious son!

Baby B Newborn Session

This blog is probably one of the saddest I've ever had to share simply because it means I'm finished with this adorable families session. I don't get to look forward to working on Baby B's newborn photos till the wee hours of the morning (it's 4am as I'm writing the blog so I apologize if I start to ramble) & that's rather depressing. After Mama Bre shared a image of her beautiful friend Amber in the hospital with her newbornI fell in love & silently waited, hoping that she would contact me about shooting her adorable little dude. To my pleasure she got in touch with me the following day & we set up a date!!! As I've said before, I have 10 thousand items for little girls so I scrambled to get some items together for Baby B's session. I colored a few wraps & made a little hat just for his session & now I'm in love with the template & will probably be making 30 more, if I ever get some down time (with summer coming up I don't see that happening!)

I feel like I say this all the time but I'm not exaggerating when I say this little guy almost didn't go home. Baby B was so incredibly handsome & literally slept through just about everything. When he was awake though he was so calm & hardly fussed unless he was hungry. He basically just let me do whatever I needed to do with him & he just silently watched. He also had some of the most beautiful blue eyes I've ever seen on a baby! My mom came home closer to the end of his session so she got some much needed baby cuddles in & Baby B even marked her just in case he ever needed to find her again, I didn't even receive such an honor!!! Baby B was so easy to work with & I was actually able to do a lot of poses with him that I've never been able to pull off before!

If you can't tell where he gets his good looks from you can check out his gorgeous mother here! Amber radiated beauty even though she had given birth only ten days before & her outward beauty was equally matched with her amazingly sweet & kind personality. She really put me to shame in my messy bun, tank top, & yoga pants!!! This Mama was all around amazing & inspiring to someone who has yet to have children, she handled Baby B & his sister like a pro & was so calm & collective in everything she did. She especially rocked my favorite Nautical Headband from Love Adorn Accessories!

This little guy lucked out with an equally as kind & handsome Papa! Papa Nate spent most the session taking care of their older daughter & making sure she was happy, which she was watching all the kitty cats run around! Nate is also a very talented Tattoo artist so I couldn't pass up the chance to her some photos with him & Baby B

Beau - Chelsea Meadows Photography 4.jpg

This was one of the hardest 'sneak peeks' I've ever had to come up with simply because I love every image from the session. This family was just so perfect & I'm already looking for an excuse to get them back over to my home studio! Though I only spent a short amount of time with this adorable family it was so easy to tell how much they all cared for one another & how hard they had worked to get to the point they were at now. Baby B is so lucky to not only have a smart & sweet sister like A was but to also have a mother & father who care just as much for each other as they do him!

Baby A Cake Smash

Who remembers the maternity session I did last winter with the beautiful woman that made my camera/travel bag (Nikolette Bags) WELL! One year later I was finally reunited with this adorable family and was allowed to do the photos for Baby A's birthday! I sadly wasn't able to do his newborn photos, I mean... how dare they live halfway across the continent... so I've been anxiously waiting this day for some time.

Mama Courtney & Papa Dan were in Nashville for a very short time visiting family & they graced me with the presence one cold & windy morning! Apparently every photo session they've ever had was when the weather was awful, our maternity session it was so incredibly cold, it was raining when they had their engagement photos done, and on this day in particular it started sleeting! The cold weather meant I couldn't cuddle on Baby A nearly as much as I wanted to. This handsome little dude was such a happy baby and was so incredibly animated it was hard not to get a good photo of him. He loved interacting with his mama & papa and you could tell he was accustom to having his photos taken all the time.

Though we were all incredibly excited for A's Cake Smash he didn't share our enthusiasm! He got just messy enough to give the illusion that he enjoyed the process! I wish I had as much self control as A!

Even though he was unhappy being covered in icing he loved splashing his feet in the sink, which was probably the cutest thing I've seen in forever, and exploring the sun room where I have my studio set up. He was so happy when he didn't have to look at the cake (I tried to explain to him that it wasn't a real volcano!). Check out Baby A rockin his Dino hat & 'considering' his cake!

Baby C Newborn Session

These two little ladies are now the first thing you see when you go to my website!!!

My first Baby of the new year was such a treat to have in the home studio! Baby C & her mama have been on my radar for some months & this little lady came right before new years eve! Don't be fooled by the photos, this little lady did not want to sleep, even though I was interrupting her nap time! She kept one eye on me the majority of the session but once she fell asleep she was OUT! This little lady made some of the cutest faces in her sleep!!!

This is probably the girliest session I've ever done & I've got to say that I am a HUGE fan of frill!

I've been waiting to share this gallery till this lovely Mama & Baby come back to my home studio to finish their session but the ice hasn't been helping much (& I couldn't hold off another week!!!) If all my babies this year were as sweet & photogenic as this little lady it's allthan it'll be a great year!

Bre & Drew Maternity Session

This Evening Mama Bre finally gave birth to her little lady!!!! I've tried to keep from harassing her all day but I am over the moon that Baby C has finally made her big debut & it seems that Momma & Baby are doing just fine!!! (Which means I'll get to see her within the week) In honor of Baby C's birth, today seems as good a day as ever to share Bre's maternity photos! Though we did our session some time ago we were holding out for another day to add to her gallery, but sadly time just didn't seem to be on our side, especially with this lady working her butt of almost every day! We shot at an amazing location at sunset that  Bre & Drew's maternity session took place at sunset, which gave us some beautiful lighting at an amazing location (even though we were horrified every time a car drove over the bridge!)

I can't even begin to tell you how excited it makes me that I'll be starting off 2016 with a newborn session, I've already seen a few photos of Baby C & I'm already trying to color match all my props & accessories for when her Mama, Papa, & brother come to visit me. This small family has already been so wonderful to work with & nothing but wonderful to me that hopefully you'll be seeing these guys more than once over 2016! Happy Birthday Baby C & congrats to Mama Bre & Papa Drew! (Also big brother E)

See you guys soon!

Baby R Newborn Session

From Belly to Baby, Baby R is finally here!

After what seemed like forever R finally made his big debut & his still incredibly beautiful Mama & Papa came to visit the home studio! Baby R was by far one of the biggest babies I've ever seen & had so much hair that his mom & dad kept having to comb it over during our session! As expected, he was so incredibly handsome & had some of the biggest lips I've ever seen! Though he was less than a week old (I believe) when he came it seemed like Tess & Noah never missed a beat. His tummy was upset the day of the session so he was a bit fussy but T & N would simply pass him between one another, feed him, burp him, coddle him, whatever it took! It came so naturally to them, it was almost like they were seasoned parents & I was incredibly impressed!

These two were more than happy to do the majority of their session outside & outside babies have to be some of my favorite babies!!! We did a small session in the studio one day & had to continue to a second day, simply because we were on a time limit with Noah's work. Second visit took hardly any time & we were finished just a bit over an hour when we actually got started! Baby R was happy to be held by his parents & was constantly eating in between shots! Noah had his bottle shoved in his pocket the majority of the session & would pop it for ten seconds than put it right back up.

When we did Tess & Noah's gender reveal we briefly spoke about doing newborn photos. I had asked them what type of theme they were planning on doing for his nursery & what type of things they liked, in which Tess immediately answered Elephants! (Like the wonderful boyfriend Noah was, he just agreed with her.) Sure enough a week or so later I ordered this amazing set! I wasn't even sure at this point if they would bring R to me just because I was simply in love with the idea & just like them, I loved the jungle theme for little boys!

This was the first time I was ever actually able to get this pose to work! I had a lot of help from Tess though & this has probably turned into one of my favorite image to date!!!

When we did the first segment at my home studio I probably spenta good 30 minutes wrapping & unwrapping R. He was SO strong & so resilient, but when he would settle down long enough for me to snap a few shots he did wonderful!

Hopefully in a years time I'll be writing a blog covering R's cake smash, & I'll be talking about how crazy it is that he's already a year old & how it seems like we just did his newborn photos...  time flies but I always love being able to see families at their earliest milestones & that they trust me with documenting such important events! Baby R was well worth the wait & I can't wait to see his lovely family again!

Baby RED's Newborn Session

If you look at my previous blog covering the DW's maternity session you can see an awful lot of gloating on how awesome this family is! We've grown so much together but never have I gotten to experience something like this! My youngest model ever weighed in at 7 pounds 12oz & was photographed within her first few seconds of life. Anyone that knows me or has come in contact with me sense that day has probably been forced to hear the story of this dramatic birth! This little lady was to be induced Friday, but she couldn't wait that long! I got a call at 2:15am Wednesday(?) morning, just as I was about to go to bed, from Papa Keith telling me it was go time!!! Contractions were about 6 minutes apart so I grabbed my jacket & all my camera equipment & FLEW up to Kentucky. I arrived around 3:35 (it's been a month & I've already forgotten the details!!!) & not but 45 minutes later she had Baby RED! She had her so quick she didn't even have time to get any sort of pain medicine in her, which I still applaud her on.  The birth was fine, it's what came after that scarred me, her husband, & all the nurses on that floor half to death.... Mama is thankfully fine now but it's something I don't think any of us will ever forget! Fast-forward later that week & I'm driving back up to Kentucky with my car packed completely full of newborn stuff!  I had no room for lighting equipment so her whole studio session was shot in the DW's kitchen right in front of their patio door!

Baby RED was probably the strongest & wiggliest baby I have ever had the pleasure of working with! This little lady broke out of every wrap I did with her & somehow managed to get her hand back up to her mouth! Besides that she was so incredibly well behaved & quietly watched every move I made (as best as I imagine she could!)

After our 'studio' session we went across the road with her Big Brother M, as well as her lovely mama & papa. After being held by Mama P for less that five minutes Baby RED fell right asleep & stayed that way for the rest of our session. Even though the park was right next to him, with all the fun slides & swings, Big Brother M was very eager to be around his little sister. I was told that while the 3 of them were still in the hospital he was more concerned about when his baby sister would be home rather than his mother & father. He gave her kisses all on his own & was just so incredibly sweet to her, I couldn't have asked for a better set of models!

After we asked him to 'push' Baby RED in her stroller it was hard to get him to do anything other than that! Even when we took her out he was pushing it all around the park & even tried to get in it a few times. Sadly Big Brother M was too big & he was incredibly heart broken over the matter. That was until Daddy started playing with him. Doesn't he look like he belongs in one of the next Fast & Furious movies?

Even though I could hardly imagine just how exhausted these two were they never missed a beat & were more than willing to go above & beyond to help each other out & to keep each other happy. While I did Patricia's photo's Keith was pushing BB M up the hill in his car, chasing him around, things that exhausted me just watching! I can't even begin to tell you how impressed & amazed I was with this couple & what they were able to bring to the table with no sleep!

It's been such a pleasure getting to know these two, than three, & now four & how much I love watching this family grow. I have so much more respect for them as parent's & as a couple, seeing everything they've gone through over the years& just how crazy they still are about one another.
